How much does guaranteed PR cost? Prices for each model in 2026
Guaranteed PR costs anything from about $250 to more than $10,000 per placement, and the price depends on what is actually guaranteed. A 2026 industry pricing guide puts guaranteed placements on big outlets at $2,500 to $10,000 or more each; a written, labelled feature on a smaller publication can cost a few hundred dollars.

Key takeaways
- everything-pr's 2026 pricing guide puts guaranteed placements at $2,500 to $10,000 or more each, depending on the publication.
- Sponsored posts bought from websites are far cheaper on average: BuzzStream's June 2026 study of 257,267 sites found $295 direct from the site and $461 through a vendor, with top-tier news sites at $3,836 direct.
- A PR retainer guarantees work, not coverage, and costs $2,000 to $90,000 or more a month with a three- to six-month minimum, according to the same pricing guide.
- Blue Leopard Media's written features cost $249 for one, $499 for three and $999 for eight, live within 24 hours of your approval or your money back on the publications that carry that promise.
- Compare price per guaranteed, labelled, permanent page, not price per logo.
The short answer: what guaranteed PR costs
Guaranteed PR, meaning an article that is certain to be published because you are paying for it, costs from a few hundred dollars to more than $10,000 per placement. everything-pr's 2026 PR pricing guide says the firms that guarantee specific placements quote per placement, at $2,500 to $10,000 or more per guaranteed placement depending on the publication. At the other end, a written feature on a smaller business or lifestyle publication can cost under $500.
For comparison, our own PR & Media Placements service charges $249 for one written feature with its cover, $499 for three and $999 for eight, with no retainer. The rest of this guide sets out what each model costs, what the money guarantees and what it does not, so you can compare like with like. What the word "guaranteed" is actually buying
Two different things are sold under the same name. Earned coverage is a story a journalist chooses to write. Nobody can guarantee it, and the money you spend on it buys effort: research, pitching, relationships. A paid placement is an article that runs because someone paid for the space. That can be guaranteed, because the buyer and the publisher have agreed it in advance.
So the price of guaranteed PR is really the price of a paid placement plus whatever service comes with it: writing, editing, a cover image, promotion, reporting, a refund. Two offers at the same price can guarantee very different things. One might guarantee a page on a site you have heard of but leave you to write the text. Another might guarantee a feature written for you, on a smaller title, by a date. The questions that decide value are the same every time: which site, what kind of page, who writes it, when it goes live, how it is labelled and what happens if it does not run.
Paid placements have to be labelled as advertising. The FTC's guide to native advertising says an ad "shouldn't suggest or imply to consumers that it's anything other than an ad". Any honest quote for guaranteed media placement assumes the piece will carry a label such as "Sponsored" or "Advertisement".
Guaranteed PR pricing by model
1. Per-placement guarantees on big-name outlets: $2,500 to $10,000+
A small number of firms sell a named placement on a well-known outlet for a fixed fee. everything-pr describes this as performance-based pricing, quoted per placement, at $2,500 to $10,000 or more per guaranteed placement depending on the publication. The price is driven almost entirely by the outlet's name. Before you pay, get the exact section of the site in writing: a contributor post, a sponsored section and a syndicated release can all sit on the same famous domain and are very different things.
2. Sponsored posts bought from websites or marketplaces: about $300 to $7,000+
Many sites sell sponsored posts directly, and marketplaces resell them. BuzzStream's guest post cost study, updated in June 2026, analysed 257,267 sites drawn from a large link marketplace. It found that a post costs $295 on average bought directly from a site and $461 through a vendor. Across all news sites the average vendor price was $582. For the 413 sites it rated top-tier news, the average was $3,836 direct and $7,209 through a vendor. It also found that only 1.37% of the sites qualified as high-quality or top-tier.
Two things to note. These prices usually cover publication only: you supply the article or pay extra for writing. And the study is about link buying, so many of these sites sell posts mainly for links. Google treats links bought for ranking as spam unless they are marked sponsored or nofollow, so a cheap post is cheap partly because the main thing it was sold for should not exist.
3. Press release wires: $600 to $3,000 per release
A wire guarantees distribution of your press release to its partner sites and newsrooms, not an article about you. everything-pr puts newswire distribution at $600 to $3,000 per release, usually billed on top of any retainer. At least one large US wire also sells a guaranteed paid placement that turns your release into a labelled native ad on publisher sites; its own product page says that content is not indexed by search engines and shows no price. If what you need is a page people find when they search your name, check that point before you pay. Our comparison of press release distribution and a guaranteed feature goes into the detail.
4. A retainer with a placement target: $2,000 to $90,000+ a month
Some agencies attach a monthly placement target to a retainer. The retainer itself is the main cost. everything-pr puts an individual publicist at $2,000 to $10,000 a month, boutique agencies at $3,500 to $10,000, mid-sized agencies at $10,000 to $25,000 and large firms at $25,000 to $90,000 or more, with a usual minimum commitment of three to six months. Clutch's PR pricing guide, updated 21 September 2026, says PR packages range from a few hundred dollars to over $10,000 a month, with most US firms on the platform billing $100 to $149 an hour. Read the guarantee terms closely: they often start after the first month and cap any refund.
5. A written feature with a publication guarantee: from $249
The fifth model sells the whole job at a fixed price: an editorial team writes a feature about you from a brief, you approve it, and it is published on a named publication by a stated time, labelled as sponsored, with a refund if it is not. This is what Blue Leopard Media sells. The price is lower than a big-name placement because the publications are smaller, and higher than a bare sponsored post because the writing, the cover and the refund are included.
Guaranteed media placement cost at a glance
Figures are from the sources named in each row, read on 7 October 2026.
| Model | Typical price | What is guaranteed | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per-placement guarantee on a big outlet | $2,500–$10,000+ per placement | A placement on the agreed publication | everything-pr, 2026 |
| Sponsored post, bought direct | $295 average; $3,836 on top-tier news sites | Publication of text you usually supply | BuzzStream, June 2026 |
| Sponsored post, through a vendor | $461 average; $7,209 on top-tier news sites | Publication, with the vendor's markup | BuzzStream, June 2026 |
| Press release wire | $600–$3,000 per release | Distribution of your release | everything-pr, 2026 |
| Retainer agency | $2,000–$90,000+ a month, 3–6 month minimum | The agency's work, not coverage | everything-pr, 2026 |
| Written feature (Blue Leopard Media) | $249 one; $499 three; $999 eight | Publication within 24 hours of your approval, or a refund | Our pricing |
The ranges overlap because the outlet matters more than the model. A guaranteed post on a small blog and a guaranteed feature on a national title are both "guaranteed PR", and they are not the same purchase.
What pushes guaranteed PR pricing up or down
- The outlet's name. This is the biggest factor. BuzzStream's data shows posts on top-tier news sites costing more than ten times the overall average bought direct ($3,836 against $295).
- Traffic and authority. In the same study, vendors charged upwards of $3,210 for a post on a site with more than 100,000 organic visits a month, against $229 for a site with fewer than 100.
- Who writes it. A bare placement assumes you send finished copy. Interviews, drafting and editing add cost, or are bundled into a feature price.
- Middlemen. Buying through a vendor rather than direct raised the average price from $295 to $461 in BuzzStream's sample. A reseller's margin is not wrong in itself, but you should know you are paying it.
- Assets. A cover image, a PDF, a badge kit for your site and social graphics all have value if you will use them in sales and on your profiles.
- Volume. Bundles bring the price per placement down. Ours fall from $249 for one feature to $166.33 per title in a three-feature bundle and $124.88 in an eight-feature bundle.
- Speed and certainty. A fixed publication window with a refund costs the seller more to offer than "we will try".
Blue Leopard Media compared with other guaranteed PR options
How the options compare, using the figures cited above for the other providers and our own published terms:
| Retainer PR agency | Per-placement seller | Press release wire | Blue Leopard Media | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $2,000–$90,000+ a month, usually 3–6 months minimum | $2,500–$10,000+ per placement on big outlets | $600–$3,000 per release | $249 one feature; $499 three; $999 eight; no retainer |
| What is guaranteed | The agency's work; coverage is earned, so not guaranteed | A placement on the agreed outlet | Distribution of your release | Publication of the feature you approved, on the publication you chose |
| Time to go live | Months; at least six for meaningful coverage (everything-pr) | Varies by outlet; get a date in writing | On the release time you book | Live within 24 hours of your approval |
| What you get | Strategy, pitching and whatever coverage editors choose to run | One page, often with text you supply | Your release reposted on partner sites | A feature written for you, your official cover in three sizes, live link, PDF and "Featured in" badge kit |
| If it does not run | Fees are for work done | Depends on the seller's terms | Fees are for distribution | Full refund of that feature's fee |
| Best for | Ongoing earned coverage in top-tier outlets, embargoed news and crisis work | A specific big-name outlet, if the budget allows and the section is clear | An official, time-stamped record of company news | A credible, labelled page about you or your company on a date you know |
None of these replaces the others. If a national business title writing about you because it wants to is the goal, pay a good publicist and give them real news. If you need a clear page about you that people can find and you can share this week, a fixed-price feature is the cheaper and faster route.
How much to budget for guaranteed PR, by goal
| Your goal | A sensible budget | What to buy |
|---|---|---|
| One credible page about you to share in sales emails and profiles | $249 to $500 | One written, labelled feature with a cover |
| Several pages that show up when people search your name | $499 to $999 | Three to eight features on different publications, each with its own angle |
| A named big-name outlet | $2,500 to $10,000+ per placement | A per-placement guarantee, with the exact section confirmed in writing |
| Coverage that editors choose to run | $2,000+ a month for three to six months or more | A publicist or agency retainer, plus real news to pitch |
Ranges for the last two rows come from everything-pr's 2026 guide. Whatever you spend, judge it by the page you end up with: is it labelled, permanent, indexed by Google and good enough to send to a client?

Frequently asked.
How much does guaranteed PR cost?
From about $250 to more than $10,000 per placement. everything-pr's 2026 pricing guide puts guaranteed placements on big outlets at $2,500 to $10,000 or more each. A written, labelled feature on a smaller publication costs far less: ours start at $249.
How much does guaranteed media placement cost on an ordinary website?
BuzzStream's June 2026 study of 257,267 sites found an average of $295 for a sponsored post bought directly from a site and $461 through a vendor, usually for publication only, with you supplying the text.
Why is a guaranteed placement on a famous outlet so expensive?
Because the price follows the outlet's name and audience. In BuzzStream's data, top-tier news sites averaged $3,836 bought direct and $7,209 through a vendor, against $295 across all sites.
Is guaranteed PR cheaper than a PR retainer?
Usually, per page. everything-pr puts retainers at $2,000 to $90,000 or more a month with a three- to six-month minimum, and a retainer does not guarantee coverage. A guaranteed placement is a one-off payment for one page, but it is paid content and must be labelled.
Do you have to pay to be featured in a magazine?
Not for earned coverage: if an editor decides to write about you, you pay nothing. You pay when you want publication guaranteed, and then the piece is advertising and should be labelled as sponsored.
What does Blue Leopard Media's $249 feature include?
One full-length feature written for you, published on the publication you choose, your official cover in three sizes, a live link, a PDF and a "Featured in" badge kit. It is live within 24 hours of your approval, with a money-back assurance on the publications that carry that promise.
