How much does it cost to promote a music video on YouTube? Cost per view, budgets and package prices
Promoting a music video on YouTube costs whatever ad budget you set, because Google charges per view: roughly $0.02 to $0.05 a paid view in the US and as little as half a cent in cheaper markets, so $250 buys about 5,000 to 12,500 US views. A managed campaign adds setup and management to that; Blue Leopard Media's start at $249 for 15,000 guaranteed worldwide views plus an editorial feature.

Key takeaways
- Google bills YouTube video ads per view: 30 seconds of a skippable in-stream ad, or 10 seconds of an in-feed or Shorts ad. People who skip earlier cost nothing.
- General benchmarks put the average at $0.01 to $0.03 a view; published music-campaign ranges run from $0.02 to $0.05 a view in the US and $0.004 to $0.006 in India.
- The country you target moves the price more than anything else, followed by how narrow the audience is and how well the opening seconds hold attention.
- Blue Leopard Media's packages run from $249 (15,000 guaranteed worldwide views and one feature) to $2,999 (500,000 views and four features), one payment per release.
- Our free YouTube promotion cost calculator turns any budget and region into an estimate of paid views.
The short answer
There is no fixed price to promote a music video on YouTube: you choose a budget and Google charges you per view. Under cost-per-view bidding, a view on a skippable in-stream ad is billed when someone watches 30 seconds (or the whole ad, if it is shorter) or interacts with it, and a view on an in-feed or Shorts ad after 10 seconds or a click. Anyone who skips earlier costs nothing.
Published cost-per-view ranges for music campaigns, the ones our YouTube promotion cost calculator uses, run from $0.02 to $0.05 a view in the US and from $0.004 to $0.05 worldwide. That means $250 buys roughly 5,000 to 12,500 US views, or 5,000 to more than 60,000 worldwide. A managed service adds setup, targeting and reporting on top of the ad spend. Blue Leopard Media's music marketing packages start at $249 for 15,000 guaranteed worldwide Google Ads views plus an editorial feature about you with your own digital cover.
How YouTube charges for music video ads
YouTube ads are bought through Google Ads (or YouTube Promote, which sets up the same kind of campaign from YouTube Studio). You don't buy views in a bundle: you set a daily budget and a bid, and Google runs an auction every time an ad slot comes up. Google's budget help page says you choose an average daily budget for each campaign and can change it at any time; to turn a monthly budget into a daily one, it says to divide by 30.4.
How you are billed depends on the format. Google's video ad formats page lists them:
| Format | How it is billed | When a view is charged |
|---|---|---|
| Skippable in-stream | Cost per view | 30 seconds watched, the whole ad if shorter, or an interaction |
| In-feed | Cost per view | A click to watch, or 10 seconds of autoplay |
| Shorts ads | Cost per view or cost per thousand impressions | 10 seconds watched, or a click on the call to action |
| Non-skippable in-stream (15 to 60 seconds) | Cost per thousand impressions | Not billed per view |
| Bumper (6 seconds) | Cost per thousand impressions | Not billed per view |
For a music video, the formats billed per view are the useful ones, because you only pay for people who chose to keep watching. A Video views campaign combines all three of them and bids on a target cost per view you set, which makes it the usual starting point.
One detail confuses many artists. Google's page on YouTube ads and view metrics says ad views are added to your public view count the moment an in-stream or Shorts ad starts to play, but that it bills only for the paid views above. So the public counter usually rises by more than the number of views you paid for. Budget and judge a campaign on paid views, not on the counter.
What a budget buys, by region
The country you target changes the price more than anything else. The table applies the cost-per-view ranges used in our calculator, which come from one music-ads company's published data on its Google Ads campaigns from August 2025 to February 2026 (the source is credited on the calculator page). The low view count uses the highest cost per view and the high count the lowest. Figures are rounded paid views, not public views.
| Budget | United States ($0.02 to $0.05) | UK or Germany ($0.01 to $0.03) | Worldwide ($0.004 to $0.05) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | 2,000 to 5,000 | 3,300 to 10,000 | 2,000 to 25,000 |
| $250 | 5,000 to 12,500 | 8,300 to 25,000 | 5,000 to 62,500 |
| $500 | 10,000 to 25,000 | 16,700 to 50,000 | 10,000 to 125,000 |
| $1,000 | 20,000 to 50,000 | 33,300 to 100,000 | 20,000 to 250,000 |
| $2,500 | 50,000 to 125,000 | 83,300 to 250,000 | 50,000 to 625,000 |
General benchmarks across all advertisers land in the same area. Influencer Marketing Hub's guide to YouTube ad costs puts the average at $0.01 to $0.03 a view and the cost of reaching 100,000 viewers at around $1,000 to $3,000. It also notes that most experts advise starting at about $10 a day and raising the budget once you have seen the analytics.
The worldwide range is wide because "worldwide" lets Google find the cheapest views, which often come from countries far from where you tour or chart. Cheap views are not wrong in themselves; they are right for social proof and discovery, and wrong if you need fans in one city.
What makes YouTube promotion cost more or less
- The countries you target. In the ranges above, a US view costs several times a view in India, where the published range is $0.004 to $0.006.
- How narrow the audience is. Fans of a handful of named artists in one city cost more per view than a broad genre audience across several countries.
- The first seconds of the video. A skippable ad that holds people past the skip button earns views; one people skip at five seconds earns impressions you don't pay for but no views either, and the campaign struggles to spend.
- The format mix. In-stream, in-feed and Shorts views are counted differently, so their costs per view are not directly comparable.
- Ad approval. Google reviews every ad, and says most are reviewed within one business day. A video approved with limits, such as adults only or some countries only, can be shown to fewer people, so each view costs more and the campaign takes longer.
- The bid. A higher target cost per view wins more auctions; Google says it charges the lowest amount needed to win, not your full bid.
The cheapest view is not always the best one. Set the region by where your fans are and where you play, then let the budget decide the number.
What each route costs: your own ads, view sellers and a managed campaign
How the options compare:
| Running your own ads | "Buy views" website | Blue Leopard Media | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | Your ad budget, typically $0.01 to $0.03 a view on general benchmarks; no management fee | A low fixed price per thousand views | From $249 per release, one payment, no retainer |
| What you pay for | Paid views at auction | A number, usually with no source given | A managed Google Ads campaign, a weekly report and an editorial feature |
| What is guaranteed | Nothing: costs and views vary | A number YouTube can freeze or remove | A minimum of Google Ads views in every market; a full refund if Google rejects the video |
| Time to go live | Once Google approves the ad, usually within one business day | Often hours | Once Google approves the video, usually within one business day; the feature live within 24 hours of your approval |
| Your time | Setup, audience tests and weekly checks | None | A short brief and approving your feature |
| Best for | Artists who want to learn Google Ads and test small budgets themselves | Nothing that builds a career: YouTube's fake engagement policy bans it | Artists and labels who want a fixed price, a guaranteed view count and press in one package |
Running your own ads is the cheapest route in cash, and a sensible way to test a video with $50 or $100 before spending more. View sellers are the route to avoid at any price: YouTube's fake engagement policy bans anything that artificially increases views, and repeated violations can end in channel termination. Our guide to YouTube music promotion lists the warning signs.
Blue Leopard Media's YouTube promotion prices
Every package is a managed Google Ads campaign for your music video, in the market you choose, plus editorial features with your own digital cover, for one payment per release. The view counts are guaranteed minimums of Google Ads views in your report, and they are alternatives: you pick one market.
| Package | Price | Worldwide | US + top markets | US only | Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $249 | 15,000 views | Worldwide only | Worldwide only | 1 feature + cover |
| Pro | $499 | 50,000 views | 24,000 views | 15,000 views | 1 feature on the publication you choose + cover |
| Breakout | $1,299 | 200,000 views | 80,000 views | 50,000 views | 2 features + 2 covers |
| Headline | $2,999 | 500,000 views | 192,000 views | 120,000 views | 4 features + 4 covers |
Divided out, that is about $16.60 per 1,000 guaranteed worldwide views on Starter, falling to about $6 on Headline, and about $25 to $33 per 1,000 US-only views on Pro and up, with the features included in the price. US + Top markets means the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Mexico and Brazil, with at least 40% of views from the US. Record labels can cover three to eight releases a month from $2,500 a month.
The guarantee works like this: if the package budget runs out before the view count is reached, we keep your ads running at our cost until it is. If Google rejects your video and a new edit can't fix it, you get a full refund of the package. The guarantee does not cover your public view count, subscribers or streams, and it does not apply if Google approves the video only with limits; the full terms are in our refund policy. Features are written by our editorial team, approved by you, live within 24 hours of your approval and labelled as sponsored content.
Other costs to plan for
Ad spend is rarely the only line in a video budget. Plan for these as well:
- A vertical cut of the video. Google recommends a horizontal video and a vertical one for Video views campaigns, and the vertical cut doubles as Shorts for your channel.
- A clean edit if needed. Videos with nudity, graphic violence, drugs or weapons, or uncleared footage, are the usual reasons Google rejects music video ads; a clean edit costs far less than a rejected campaign.
- Press about you. New viewers look you up. An editorial feature on its own starts at $249 with Blue Leopard Media, and our guide to what music PR costs covers the publicist route.
- Your time after release. Replying to comments, pinning streaming links and posting Shorts costs nothing but keeps paid viewers around.
How to tell whether the money was well spent
Compare your cost per view with the ranges above for the market you targeted, then look past the views: the view rate (how many people shown the ad chose to watch), how far they watched, which countries and devices the views came from, and whether subscribers, organic views and searches for your name rose afterwards. YouTube's engagement metrics page notes that YouTube may freeze or change counts and discard low-quality playbacks, which is one more reason to judge on the Google Ads report.
Our music video launch case study shows a real report: 6.26 million Google Ads views over 19 weeks at a 64.94% view rate, with 70.6% of views on phones. For the full picture of organic and paid promotion, read our YouTube music promotion guide.

Frequently asked.
How much does it cost to promote a music video on YouTube?
You set the budget and pay per paid view. Published music-campaign ranges run from $0.02 to $0.05 a view in the US and $0.004 to $0.05 worldwide, so $250 buys roughly 5,000 to 12,500 US views. Blue Leopard Media's managed packages start at $249 for 15,000 guaranteed worldwide views plus an editorial feature.
How many views does $100 get on YouTube ads?
Roughly 2,000 to 5,000 paid views in the US, 3,300 to 10,000 in the UK or Germany, and 2,000 to 25,000 worldwide, using the ranges in our calculator. Your video, audience and timing move the result.
Do I pay if someone skips my ad?
Not for a view. On a skippable in-stream ad, Google charges for a view only when someone watches 30 seconds, the whole ad if it is shorter, or interacts with it. In-feed and Shorts ads are charged after 10 seconds or a click.
Is there a minimum budget for YouTube ads?
Google lets you choose your own average daily budget and change it at any time. Influencer Marketing Hub notes that most experts suggest starting at about $10 a day and raising it once you have seen the analytics.
Why do US views cost more?
YouTube ads are sold at auction, so the price of a view follows advertiser demand in each market. In the published music ranges, a US view costs $0.02 to $0.05, against $0.004 to $0.006 in India.
How much do music video promotion services charge?
Pricing varies by provider. Blue Leopard Media charges one payment per release: $249 (15,000 guaranteed worldwide views), $499 (50,000), $1,299 (200,000) or $2,999 (500,000), each with editorial features and digital covers. Be wary of any seller whose price per view is far below Google's own auction prices.
Is paying for YouTube promotion worth it for an independent artist?
It can be, when the video holds attention in its first seconds and the ads target where your fans are. Paid views reach people who would never find you otherwise, and work best with a release plan, a channel ready for new viewers and something to read when people look you up.
